The ASC facilitates subject-specific group tutoring sessions. These sessions help students collaboratively engage with course concepts to reach deeper understandings of the material. Group projects, such as collaborative research papers, are also great fits for our group tutoring services. To request a group tutoring appointment, please fill out the request form.
Need to cancel? Do so at least 24 hours before the appointment start time.
Cancellations must be maid 3 hours beforehand; late cancellations are considered missed appointments. 3 missed appointments will result in an account deactivation. Should your account be deactivated, you will need to contact us via email or phone.
If you are running late, you must notify us via phone or email. Arriving 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, results in a no-show unless we have been made aware.
The Academic Success Center provides free individual, group, drop-in, and 24/7 Tutoring for all ULV students in a wide variety of courses and subjects. Students can get up to three (3) hours of scheduled appointments per subject each week. Tutoring subjects vary each semester, but can include Writing, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Spanish, and French.

In-Person - face-to-face appointments where you meet with your tutor in the ASC (1st floor of Wilson Library near Makerspace)
In-person appointments are best suited for those new to academic writing, and/or those who struggle with getting started, organizing their thoughts, or producing a strong argument. Tutors engage students in a conversation surrounding their writing process and work to build their skills and confidence. In-Person appointments are recommended for all students during any stage of the writing process (brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising) and for those who are really wanting to build their skill sets and become an effective writer.
Online - online appointments where you meet with your tutor via Zoom using video, audio, and chat features
Online appointments allow students the opportunity to still engage in dialogue with a tutor, even if they are unable to make it to campus. Online appointments are recommended for learners who are unable to make it to campus, are practiced with technology, and have a drafted (or outlined) piece of writing to discuss with their tutor.
E-Tutoring (Writing) - E-Tutoring appointments do not allow for students to engage in conversation in “real-time” with their tutor. Students upload their assignment sheet and piece of writing to their appointment and receive feedback (via email) which prioritizes global concerns such as argument development, organization of thought, and an examination of presented evidence.
E-Tutoring is best suited for those practiced in academic writing and who are able to articulate their needs and challenges with writing.
Once you make your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with more detailed instructions on how to complete your appointment.
Need support and there's no ASC tutor available? The Academic Success Center offers 24/7 tutoring for all ULV students! You can connect with an online tutor for over 300 subjects, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students are limited to 8 hours of 24/7 Tutoring per month.
To access 24/7 Tutoring, log into Blackboard and click on "Tools." You will then see "TutorMe," which is how you connect with a tutor.
