Effective June 30, 2019, Wilson Library will no longer subscribe to RefWorks. After that date, students, faculty, and staff will not have access to RefWorks for storing and managing bibliographic citations.
After careful consideration of usage and cost, it was determined that the high cost of the subscription can no longer be justified when there are free or low cost citation management tools available that are as good or better than RefWorks. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause current RefWorks users.
Wilson Library provides support for the open-source tool Zotero.
Library Help
Your RefWorks account content must be backed up or migrated to another citation management system before June 30, 2019 to ensure you do not lose access to your references.
If you wish to preserve your folders, you will need to export each folder separately.
To Export from RefWorks:
If you do not have separate folders you can export all of your references in one file.
Before you Start
Check if you have any references left in "Not in Folder" that you want to keep. Unless you assign them to a Folder, they won't be imported.
Make sure that it's intentional if you have duplicate records across multiple folders. If you are not preserving the folders structure, eliminate duplicate references. Under Tools, there is a Find Duplicates search.
Once you have exported your references from RefWorks as an RIS or BibTeX file, you can import them into Zotero directly.
