General AMA Rules

Authors

  • List author names starting with the last name followed by first and middle initials, no periods.
    • If there are more than six authors, list the first three followed by et al.
    • Example: Jordan CJ, Cao J, Newman AH, et al.

Capitalization

Other

  • Retain the spelling, abbreviations, and style used in the original resource title.
  • Include inclusive page numbers (i.e., the start and end page numbers).
  • Reference the most specific part when possible (i.e., cite the chapter within the book).
