The BLS is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the field of labor economics and statistics. There are many areas of the site that are wortwhile to explore to find detailed information on particular occupations, industries and current employment/unemployment rates.

National data obtained from different BLS surveys and programs. Many programs also produce additional industry detail, including state and regional data. Industry classification is based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

The (OES) program produces employment and wage estimates for over 800 occupations. These are estimates of the number of people employed in certain occupations, and estimates of the wages paid to them. Self-employed persons are not included in the estimates. These estimates are available for the nation as a whole, for individual States, and for metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas; national occupational estimates for specific industries are also available.

The Current Population Survey (CPS), sponsored jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), is the primary source of labor force statistics for the population of the United States.
